Ancillary Relief is the application a spouse can make to a Divorce Court to determine financial and property related issues arising from the termination of a relationship.
It is usually complex and
always expensive. Furthermore it is not an application with which anyone can sensibly represent themselves without a detailed knowledge
of the statutory framework and the functional working of Section 25 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973
Below is just a small selection of the many worries facing divorcing people:-
- What are my entitlements ?
- What factors must a Court consider ?
- What discretionary powers does a Court have over the family Assets ?
- Can it, and should it divide those assets equally ?
- What is fair? and how does a Court compare that against the yardstick of equality ?
- How can limited resources stretch to cater for two households ?
- Can state benefits help ?
- What can be done if the mortgage is not paid ?
